Friends of Guatemala, Inc. has members throughout the Unites States. Both Guatemalans and Americans have united to aid this small Central American country, one of the poorest in the Western Hemisphere.

Friends of Guatemala, Inc. has transported and distributed over $500,000.00 in used medical equipment and medical supplies to Guatemala. The hospitals and clinics benefited are severely under equipped and often destitute. The organization has provided Guatemalan medical facilities with, among others, mammography machines, respirators, cardiac monitors, incubators, hospital beds, and dialysis equipment.

Friends of Guatemala, Inc. has rebuilt, equipped and/or continues to support shelter houses for patients and their families who travel the country’s capital in search of medical treatment. These people are housed and fed as they await diagnosis and treatment at the charity hospitals. An average of 725 needy persons are housed each month.

Friends of Guatemala, Inc. has provided, over the years, multiple scholarships to indigent Guatemalans, in particular young Mayan Indian girls, in recognition of the most important role they play in the future development on the country. Public and parochial schools have also received financial assistance and supplies.
